It's been a rough year

I’ve been in cat rescue six years now and never have I seen so many orphaned kittens and abandoned cats. All the local rescues are overwhelmed. No one seems to have any money for anything. I have twelve cats living with me simply because they had nowhere else to go. I’m exhausted.

We live in a neighborhood where it seems when people move out, they leave their cats behind. The poor things would come to our house, and well, we would take them in. (It hasn't happened for awhile, thank goodness).
I think people don't realize the cost of a pet, between food and vet visits, and when things get bad, they believe the myth that if they abandon their pet it will be able to fend for itself.

You have a good heart. As one of the above posters said, you are doing the Lord's work.

I wish I had the right words to make you feel better. Please try to take care of yourself as well as the cats. Hang in there as best you can.

I was involved in situations like yours often over the years. I was a vet tech for twenty plus years. As hard as it is to hear and hard reality... euthanasia is not a dirty word. There are too many cats and dogs and goats and horses and and and.... animals deserve better. Thanks for your diligence. It's a real catch-22

Makes you wonder if they would give up their children
if it was allowed.

People are struggling and animals cost money to care for properly.
