Posting early due to reinstalling Windows 11. Who knows how that will go.
If this goes well, I'll cook something fresh tonight.
If it doesn't, I have some terrific broccoli rabe, rigatoni, and mozzarella from a day or two ago.
My peach mango kombucha turned out to be quite delicious, but I'm still preferring the fall flavors, like the kombucha I made with cider, ginger, and cherry flavors.
Dessert: caramel apple with chopped peanuts.
OK, everybody, here I go. Gulp.

(36,556 posts)Haluski Recipe (Polish fried cabbage & noodles)
https://4sonrus.com/haluski-recipe-polish-fried-cabbage-noodles/
Ingredients
8 oz wide egg noodles uncooked
8 tbsp butter
1 small white onion roughly chopped
1/2 large head of cabbage
salt & pepper to taste
crisp, crumbled bacon optional
Instructions
Fill a large pot half way full with water. Lightly salt it, and over high heat bring the water to a boil.
Once boiling, pour in the egg noodles, stir, and cook according to the package directions. Transfer the noodles to a colander when done, and drain away all excess water.
While the noodles are cooking, get started on the cabbage by adding 6 tablespoons of butter to a large Dutch oven set over medium heat.
Once the butter's melted, stir in the cabbage and onion. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes or until the cabbage has browned/caramelized and is tender. Salt, to taste.
Melt the last two tablespoons of butter in the pot, and add the cooked pasta to the pot, stirring everything to coat. Cook just long enough for the noodles to heat through.
If using, stir in the bacon and season the haluski with freshly grated black pepper, to taste.
Serve immediately, and enjoy!

(141,546 posts)Sicilian dish is made by combining slow-roasted eggplant with cherry tomatoes that have been stewed with onion, garlic, and basil. The scrumptious sauce is served over a bed of cavatappi noodles -- their corkscrew-shape is ideal for scooping up every saucy bite. It's topped with whipped ricotta for an extra layer of richness.
Hope it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(1,843 posts)A couple weeks ago we shopped at a grocery store across town that we don't normally go to. On their bargain table, they had canned gooseberries. My dad loved gooseberry jam, had a few bushes, and I think my son just wanted to see what gooseberries are like.
I drained the juice, added some water and white wine, some grated ginger and a squeeze of lemon, thickened it with cornstarch, added the gooseberries. I'm baking the salmon fillets, with just salt and pepper. Side dishes are asparagus and baked potatoes.

(1,472 posts)Found peaches on the edge in the food motel and am now waiting for the IP to beep and let me know my wild rice mushroom soup is ready. I have a stash of dried morels from Forest Glory, so this is going to be GOOD.
Of course, child that I am, I already had my dessert whilst it was still warm. Yum!
