Decided to make a buffet of finger foods to munch on throughout the evening.
Pate', various cheese cubes, including Gruyere, Swiss and some spreadable cheese like Brie.
Zucchini fritters.
Chicken tenders, breaded with cornflakes, and served with chipotle dip.
Veggie plate with carrot sticks, green, red, and yellow peppers, celery; olives, large capers and cornichons.

Last night's dinner that I had to go to was very good, just like I predicted. First was figs, goat cheese and romaine salad.
Then filet mignon. The vegetables were carrots and tiny filet green beans. All the wine or champagne you wanted.
Dessert was heaven: apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. There was a large shortbread cookie at everyone's place to take home.

Your finger foods sound delic.
Are you expecting trick or treaters? Kids here don't do that.
Enjoy!

(41,917 posts)Because I live way at the end of a dead end private road.
However, we once did get trick or treaters, and a lot of them. I came home from class to find this out. The RG said I couldn't find the candy, so I just gave out $5 bills. !!!???
Needless to say, this increased the number of trick or treaters considerably.
I'll bet!

(7,001 posts)and hosting friends who've been on furlough for the last month. We may not have a feast and a banquet as we did on Halloween's passed, but coming together and sharing what we have seems right and proper... and a slap in the face of he who takes food out of the mouths of babes.
Montauk Fish Stew with Cod & Shrimp
A hearty, rustic dish that highlights the fresh seafood of Long Islands eastern shores (where I grew up!) It typically features shrimp and tender pieces of cod simmered in a fragrant broth made with garlic, tomatoes, white wine, and seafood stock. The stew is infused with herbs like thyme and parsley, with a touch of red pepper flakes for gentle heat. Often served with crusty bread (which I got!)
(Also has peas and corn!)
Later, ice cream.
