NEED SOME SNACKS FOR THE GAME? 🌞

Got a crowd in your den? Serve them some
pure comfort food - FRIED CHEESE!

Easy Fried Cheese Bites
ByAlli Doubek

Ingredients:

10 oz mozzarella string cheese (or 10 sticks)
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
Cayenne pepper (optional)
Vegetable oil (for frying)

Take out a cutting board and cut your string cheese sticks into bite sized pieces.
This should get you four or five bites per stick.

In a medium sized bowl, add your eggs and whisk to break them up. Add the
milk and whisk again to incorporate the two ingredients.

Set aside two additional bowls. Fill one with your flour and the next with your
bread crumbs. Place the bowl with your eggs and milk mixture in the middle
of that line, so that you now have three bowls in a row (flour, eggs, bread crumbs).

*If you want to add a little spice to your cheese balls, put a few shakes of
cayenne pepper into the bread crumbs and mix it well with a small spoon
to incorporate.

Take one piece of mozzarella. Dip it in the flour, then immediately dredge
it in the egg mixture. Now, roll your cheese bite around in the bread crumbs.
Continue to do this until you have all the pieces of cheese breaded. You can
place each finished piece on a plate once they are completed.

In a medium sized skillet, heat your vegetable oil (about 2 inches high) to
350 degrees. If you aren’t sure what temperature your oil is at, you can use
a candy thermometer or stick the end of a wooden spoon into the oil. If
bubbles collect around the handle and start moving around, your oil is ready.

Pull out a plate and line it with a paper towel. You may want a second lined
plate as well if you are making the entire package of mozzarella sticks at once.

Add 5-7 pieces into the oil for about 30 seconds. Make sure that you keep
them separated so that they don’t bond together! We love the gooeyness,
but we’re looking for individual pieces here.

Fry your mozzarella bites until they are golden brown (which should be at
that 30 second mark). Using a slotted spoon, remove your pieces from the
oil and place them on the paper towels.

Repeat this process with different batches until all of your bites are fried.

Deep-Fried & **Baked Mac n Cheese Balls
By Kita

Searching for the ultimate comfort food? We’ve got you. Our deep-fried macaroni
and cheese bites are about to rock your world and satisfy those cheesy cravings
like never before.

Have you ever wondered, “how can I make mac and cheese even more indulgent?”
We have, and the answer came to us as a bar food appetizer: Deep fry it.

It’s a ridiculous combo of the crunch you only get from frying and the gooey
cheesy creaminess of mac and cheese that no one can resists (not even you).

Fried Mac and Cheese Ingredients

Bacon – cooked, drained, and crumbled to add a smoky flavor to the mac
and cheese.

Mac and Cheese – you can use whatever mac and cheese recipe you like!
Pretty much anything will work! Try delicious smoked mac and cheese
or creamy instant pot mac and cheese.

Eggs – coats the outside of the mac and cheese balls to help the
breadcrumbs stick and to help them crisp up nicely.

Breadcrumbs – you can use plain breadcrumbs or Italian seasoned
for a boost of flavor.

Vegetable Oil – for frying!

How to Make Deep Fried Mac and Cheese Balls

1. In a large bowl, mix the bacon into the mac and cheese. Cover and chill for 6 hours in the fridge.

2. Set up your rolling station by arranging the eggs in a bowl next to a bowl of breadcrumbs.

3. Remove the mac and cheese from the fridge and use a cookie scoop or your
hands to form the mac and cheese into tight balls.

4. One at a time, dip each ball into the eggs, drain the excess, then roll them in the breadcrumbs

5. Place the breadcrumb coated mac and cheese balls onto a baking sheet, then freeze for 4 hours.

6. When you’re ready to fry, fill a large pot with oil and heat the oil over
medium-low heat until hot enough to fry. Preheat the oven to 180ºF.

7. Use a long-handled slotted spoon to dip the macaroni and cheese
balls in the hot oil. Fry until golden-brown, then set over a rack
on a baking sheet to drain and keep in the preheated oven to
keep warm. Repeat with all the mac and cheese balls.

8. Allow the balls to cool for three minutes, then sprinkle with salt and serve hot!

Fried Mac and Cheese Tips

You’ll want the chill whatever mac and cheese you use for around 6 hours in
the fridge after you make it. This helps dry it out so it’s easier to form into balls.

After you dip the mac and cheese ball into the egg, let the excess drain off.
You want there to be enough so the breadcrumbs can stick, but not so much
that they just end up soggy.

Don’t fill the pot too high with oil – For safety, make sure you leave a little bit
of space at the top of the pot. The hot oil can splatter.

Don’t add more than three mac and cheese balls – If you put too many mac
and cheese balls into the hot oil, it will cause the temperature to drop. I
would keep the limit at three so the oil stays hot and the mac and cheese
balls get nice and crispy.

**How to Bake Mac and Cheese Balls

If you’d prefer to make baked mac and cheese balls, feel free!
To do so, preheat the oven to 350ºF, line the mac and cheese
balls on a lightly greased baking sheet, then bake for 20-30
minutes or until golden-brown and crispy. I recommend rotating
them every few minutes so they cook evenly!

350 for 20-30 minutes, rotating every few minutes so they cook evenly.
