Vaccine Question for any DU healthcare professionals

I’m 42 year old with type 2 Diabetes living in Texas. I had chicken pox as an infant.

From my understanding I am too young for the shingles vaccination and I am in this year’s gap age for the Covid vaccine .

However, in both cases I believe that there are exceptions for being immunocompromised. Since I have type II diabetes can I possibly get my doctor to write a script for me to get these vaccinations?

I have a 69 year old father with heart failure I care for and I work in education so I feel it is vital I get a Covid vaccination if I can.

I am absolutely terrified if I don’t get them now that they could be banned and I won’t ever be able to get them. I had a grandmother with shingles and I remember her crying herself to sleep from the pain. I don’t ever want to experience that. Please tell me there is a chance of getting them!

I'd call your doc's office. I get concern, but they might make vaccines non-mandatory, but believe Silent Type Thursday #1

they’ll continue to allow them for those who choose them. They are too stupid to realize mandates are important.

At least that’s what I hope. My confidence in sanity has been shaken by trump and his cult. Good luck.

After the CDC resignations and firing I’m scared that the craziest people in the room are getting their way and would rather be safe than sorry.

Especially with regards to shingles!

So medicaid will likely say no and actual insurance firms will say yes if they exoect to save money that way. Good luck getting them both.

I am so desperate to avoid both illnesses that I would even make whatever sacrifices I have to and pay out of pocket!

I even told my family I’d drive to Canada if I have too (though it looks like Colorado might be an even closer option).
