Will China have to choose between Europe and Russia? - Eastern Express - TVP WORLD

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin put their growing cooperation on full display. Their subsequent bilateral meeting in Beijing reinforced this message: China is now the indispensable partner keeping Russia afloat under Western sanctions. At the same time, Beijing is carving out a land-based “Suez Canal” to Europe, an alternative trade corridor that could both tighten China’s grip on supply chains and deepen Europe’s strategic dilemma. Will China ultimately have to choose between Russia and Europe? To discuss China’s foreign policy, TVP World’s Eastern Express was joined by François Godement, a Special Advisor at the Institut Montaigne.
