Related: About this forumWhy wind farms attract so much misinformation and conspiracy theory
When Donald Trump recently claimed, during what was supposed to be a press conference about a European Union trade deal, that wind turbines were a "con job" that drive whales "loco," kill birds and even people, he wasnt just repeating old myths. He was tapping into a global pattern of conspiracy theories around renewable energyparticularly wind farms. (Trump calls them windmillsa climate denier trope.)
Like 19th century fears that telephones would spread diseases, wind farm conspiracy theories reflect deeper anxieties about change. They combine distrust of government, nostalgia for the fossil fuel era, and a resistance to confronting the complexities of the modern world.
And research shows that, once these fears are embedded in someones worldview, no amount of fact-checking is likely to shift them.

(36,403 posts)...after trillions of dollars squandered on them, has no effect whatsoever on the acceleration of the accumulation of the dangerous fossil fuel waste carbon dioxide in the planetary atmosphere.
Numbers don't lie.
The purpose of the wind industry has nothing to do with the environment other than to make it worse, since the only justification for it was to attack sustainable energy, of which there is one, and only one form, nuclear energy. At the peril of all humanity and all living things, this has been the wind industry's only success, to make it too late for nuclear energy to do what it might have done to save the planet.

BTW - the reactor construction industry killed nuclear energy.

(36,403 posts)...construction and so they, and regrettably the Russians, know very well how to build nuclear reactors, China isn't a fucking CO2 nirvana. It won't be.
While they are doing something by building nuclear reactors, which our antinukes around here want to claim is impossible, the time that nuclear energy might have protected us from the result we now observe passed in the 1980's, when the ignorance squad directed their specious attention to it, destroying the efforts of the finest minds of the 20th century with stupid little slogans and selective attention.
As for wind and solar junk, it's useless, in China and everywhere else on the planet.
The numbers, which the China cheering squad here - including the creeps from the fossil fuel industry trying to rebrand fossil fuels as "hydrogen" there - are available:
The Global Carbon Budget Organization (which reports carbon releases based on the atomic weight of carbon, 12.011 g/mol, and must be corrected for the molecular weight of carbon dioxide 44.0095 g/mol, requiring a correction factor of 3.664, indicates from its most recent data (2023) that China emitted 11.9619 billion tons of CO2, over 1/4 of the world's emissions of that dangerous fossil fuel waste about which all our fucking antinukes here and elsewhere couldn't care less about.
That organization is a bit more serious than a tweet on Elon Musk's website by an antinuke airhead.
What destroyed the nuclear industry in this country, once the world leader in the construction of nuclear reactors, having built over 100 nuclear in less than 25 years while providing the cheapest electricity in the industrialized world - most of those still working and saving human lives - was the rhetoric of dumb shit antinukes, their constant whining and crying in elevating their imagination that someone might die someday somewhere somehow from a nuclear event, calling for all kinds of retrofits while ignoring the effects of fossil fuels, which kill continuously, without stop, every time they operate normally. Fossil fuels are killing the whole fucking planet in fact. Antinukes just couldn't care less.
The antinukes won, with their dangerous and frankly deadly selective attention, their belief that it is OK to kill tens of millions, roughly 70 million of people each decade with fossil fuel waste, so long as no one ever faces a risk from a nuclear power plant at any time anywhere.
We hear a lot about China here, also reported by liars to be a hydrogen nirvana, even more nonsense.
In spite of what the fossil fuel industry trying to rebrand their product as "hydrogen" publish here with slick dishonest videos out of China, China is highly dependent on the consumption of dangerous fossil fuels, even to make it's fucking hydrogen.
This isn't a fucking dishonest tweet by an air head, this is from a scientific publication, and while it's about hydrogen, it shows fossil fuels are alive and well, :
The text is clear enough.
From the introductory text:
The bold, italics and underlining is mine.
I note that the "fossil fuels are really 'green hydrogen'" marketeers here also hate nuclear energy. The fossil fuel industry always has, always will. It's the only technology that might drive them out of business.
The fucking useless wind and solar industry, in China, in the United States, in Europe, everywhere has soaked up trillions of dollars for no result. I'm not an air head looking at the tweets of morons on Elon Musk's website about the wonders of China taking them seriously. Any idiot can still - until the Orange Pedophile in the White House destroys it - call up the data at the Mauna Loa CO2 Observatory. We started squandering what would prove trillions of dollars on solar and wind junk, all of which will need to be replaced within 25 years, since that rickety mass and land intensive shit doesn't last all that long, in the 21st century, that ill advised fantasy having done nothing more than leading to the acceleration of the degradation of the planet.

Trends in Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Mauna Loa CO2 Observatory.
Note that the trillion dollar solar and wind scam in this century made no inflection in the graph.
Excuse me, but I'm serious. I monitor the Mauna Loa CO2 Observatory weekly and as a result, I'm not easily misled by the type of people who want to tell me that Elon Musk's Powerwalls will make the heretofore useless so called "renewable energy" fantasy dispatchable: The Number of Tesla Powerwalls Required That Would Address the Current German Dunkleflaute Event.
I've been at this for many years, because unlike the shit for brains antinukes here, who want to blame everything and everyone for their willful destruction of the nuclear manufacturing infrastructure in this country with specious mutterings, leading ultimately to the collapse of the planetary atmosphere, about which they couldn't care less, issuing blathering statements year after year, decade after decade while the planet burns, I actually give a shit, and I'm paying attention even if they aren't.
I'm well aware of the numbers, and I can spot airheads who know zero about numbers the minute they open their mouths or enter, again, tiresome bullshit of the hollow spaces under their keyboards.
I've been following the numbers for years, and often remark on them here, for instance:
New Weekly CO2 Concentration Record Set at the Mauna Loa Observatory, 430.86 ppm
All but two (from 2021) of the top 50 comparators of the concentration of the dangerous fossil fuel waste carbon dioxide in the planetary atmosphere this year, with the figures from 10 years ago, have occurred in 2024 and 2025. The planet is burning.
And what's the response?
A tweet from Elon Musk's propaganda machine?
Why am I not surprised?
Have a nice Sunday.
