Philippines gets first megawatt-scale floating solar farm

Energy Source and Distribution | August 12, 2025

US firm Black & Veatch has successfully delivered the Philippines’ first megawatt-scale floating solar photovoltaic (PV) facility, marking a milestone in renewable energy innovation and sustainable mining practices.

Commissioned by Carmen Copper Corporation, the 3ha floating solar array on Malubog Reservoir features 8,540 solar panels generating up to 4.99MW of clean energy—enough to meet 10% of the mine’s power needs.

The project is designed to scale up to 50MW, with the potential to fully power Carmen Copper’s operations with renewable energy.

Black & Veatch managing director Asia Pacific Jerin Raj said, “This project exemplifies how engineering excellence and environmental stewardship can converge to deliver transformative infrastructure...more

...who give a rat's ass about environmental issues, including the integrity of the seas, which is why they hype this useless crap.

It's telling that this is all about mining, and also telling that it includes, along with a quotation from a book written by barely literate sheep herders mumbling about "knowledge," the usual "percent talk," in this case 10%, meaning the fucking mines are 90% powered by fossil fuels.

But again, the "green hydrogen" scam is really a fossil fuel front.

And yes, hydrogen vehicles do explode: Engulfed in flames | Fuel cell bus in California destroyed after explosion during refuelling

It would appear that besides wasting fossil fuels to make hydrogen, and being trivial after 50 years of tiresome ignorant bullshit, that besides worsening fossil fuel demand, even as a trivial scam it's still pretty damned dangerous, given hydrogen's horrible physical properties.

Have a nice evening.
