China: Rockcheck Inks Deal to Deploy 1,000 Hydrogen Trucks in Inner Mongolia by 2026

Rockcheck Group will deliver 1,000 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, as part of a zero-carbon freight corridor project integrating green hydrogen production, refuelling and fleet operations.

The initiative will launch 100 trucks in 2025, scaling up by 2026, and includes new logistics hubs and hydrogen stations tied to local wind and solar electrolysers.

China’s Rockcheck Group has signed a three-way contract with the Jiuyuan District government in Baotou and Huadian Hydrogen Energy to deploy 1,000 hydrogen fuel-cell heavy-duty trucks by the end of 2026. The first 100 trucks, each with a range of up to 700km and powered by Rockcheck’s 200kW fuel-cell systems co-developed with Geely, will be delivered by the end of this year. The move is part of Baotou’s hydrogen transportation demonstration project, which ties truck deployment to green hydrogen production and large-scale refuelling infrastructure.

The plan will integrate wind- and solar-powered hydrogen electrolysers with “production-storage-transport-use” infrastructure, supported by a hydrogen logistics park combining truck operations, digital fleet management and high-capacity refuelling stations. “This initiative showcases how heavy-duty transport decarbonisation can be achieved by linking clean hydrogen production directly to logistics demand,” Rockcheck said. The company, which already operates 11 hydrogen refuelling stations and 700 fuel-cell vehicles, aims to deliver 10,000 trucks within five years, leveraging its supply chain to attract equipment makers to Baotou...more
