The police are reporting that a gang conflict may be behind Sunday night's brutal mass shooting in Commodore in Linstead, St Catherine, which left five people dead, including a four-year-old, and four others nursing gunshot wounds.

According to police reports, around 8:45 p.m., the victims were at a premises commonly referred to as 'Big Yard' playing games when armed men, dressed in police fatigues, entered the compound.

The men reportedly shouted "police!” before opening fire with high-powered weapons, hitting all nine individuals.

Five of the victims were pronounced dead at hospital, while four others were admitted.

Reading the original article, I first thought announcing the police were there could have been a way of making sure no one would try to hide before they shot everyone. Sneaky, as well as vicious.

Wouldn't be surprised if the trick doesn't get copied after this.

We don't usually hear of mass murder from the Caribbean, do we? This will hurt so many people.

Likewise a young chick was among the dead.

Last night’s weapons included an M16. Could have been much worse..

Still the Eventide Fire was the worst in my lifetime. All those old people died. Nothing they came up with has changed the majority of our minds that it was politician arson.
