Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance) said that the meeting he was scheduled to have on Wednesday (13) with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss the 50% surtax imposed on Brazil was canceled.
The minister attributed the cancellation to far-right forces who maintain communication with the White House and mentioned Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro, who is in the U.S.

Haddad went on: "Eduardo gave an interview [saying] he would seek to inhibit this kind of contact between governments because what was at stake was not a commercial issue."
The minister emphasized that the cancellation of the meeting with the U.S. Treasury came after Jair Bolsonaros sons statement. "There are no coincidences in this kind of thing." When asked, Eduardo Bolsonaro said he was not to blame for the meetings cancellation.
