The total value of U.S. shipments of fresh orange juice to Canada saw a steep drop in June to its lowest level in more than 20 years, according to data from both the U.S. Census Bureau and Statistics Canada.
The total import value in June of fresh orange juice from the U.S. into Canada was $5.78 million, compared to nearly $12 million in June 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Since January alone, the monthly import value dropped by 64 per cent.

Many people recognize that orange juice is not particularly healthy. It's basically flavored sugar water. So it was already becoming less popular.
Oranges aren't native to the U.S., and increasingly severe weather events and climate change are making it more difficult to grow this foreign plant. If you've ever tried to grow a little orange tree on your patio you'll know. They are susceptible to fungus and bacterial infections, they're fussy about water and drainage, they're susceptible to insects.
It's a crop that is on the way out in Florida.
