WA-03 is still Washington's tossup district: Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and John Braun are tied ahead of 2026

As the 2026 midterms draw closer, Washington’s 3rd Congressional District remains one of the most closely watched House battlegrounds in America. Our latest Civic Heartbeat survey of the district, which fielded last week, suggests it is living up to that billing.

Just days before voters begin weighing in the state’s elimination round, we find that sophomore Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and her Republican challenger John Braun are statistically tied in every meaningful test of the race:

26% of our sample of 500 likely November voters who also responded yes to a screening question about voting in August say they’re voting for John Braun, while 25% are voting for Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. No other candidate is near them.

43% of our sample said they’d vote for Braun and 42% said they would vote for Gluesenkamp Perez if the November general election were being held now and those were the two finalists, while 16% said they were not sure.
