Snohomish County Council seeks to appoint District Court judge

EVERETT — The Snohomish County Council is seeking to appoint a judge to the Everett District Court with the anticipated departure of Judge Tam Bui, a press release said.

Bui earned a seat on the state’s Court of Appeals during the November general election, leaving her position on the Snohomish County District Court open.

The County Council will interview qualified applicants on Dec. 15. The application will be open until 8 a.m. Dec. 8.

Qualifications are established by state law and include being a lawyer admitted to practice law in Washington state and a registered voter in the Everett district, which encompasses Everett, Mukilteo and Marysville. The appointee would start Jan. 2 and need to run in the 2026 general election to retain the position beyond the end of the year.
