Lumber reuse center to open in Sodo under federally backed program

A salvage lumber yard, backed by federal funding and operated by Earthwise Architectural Salvage, is slated to open by the end of the year in Seattle's Sodo neighborhood.

Earthwise announced the opening of the Salvage Lumber Warehouse at 4747 First Ave. S. on Nov. 10.

The move is under a pilot program funded by the Environmental Protection Agency to "expand lumber reuse and strengthen the local circular economy,” Aaron Blanchard, director of operations for Earthwise, told the Business Journal in an email.

“Earthwise’s role is to make that vision practical and profitable on the ground," he added.
