Root Sports to air final Mariners game Sunday
The Mariners will shutter broadcast partner Root Sports on Sunday after the regular season finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It will be the last game after almost 40 years of broadcast coverage from the regional sports network, the team announced Friday. Major League Baseball will take over broadcasts and streaming next season.
We continue to focus on finding new ways to bring our games in 2026 and beyond to our fans, and weve determined joining with Major League Baseball is the best path, the Mariners said in an emailed statement. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and excellence demonstrated by the Root Sports staff over the (nearly) four decades they have televised our games.
The Mariners acquired a controlling stake in Root Sports in 2013, giving the team control through the 2030 season. The network, which had lost multiple teams in recent years, launched a streaming app ahead of the Mariners' season opener.
