Everett school board OKs 2025-26 budget

EVERETT — The Everett Public Schools Board of Directors approved the district’s 2025-26 budget on Tuesday, increasing the number of teaching staff across its schools, particularly for special education.

The $441 million general fund includes three new full-time equivalent positions for basic education and 15 new full-time equivalent positions for special education.

The district added those positions in response to increased enrollment numbers and new boosts to state special education funding, said Andi Tress, the district’s executive director of finance, at the board meeting Tuesday.

Some other funding increases are coming to the district’s bilingual instructional program. The district is also expected to pay for three new electric buses via its transportation vehicle fund.
