T-Mobile cutting 121 jobs in King County

Bellevue-based telecommunications giant T-Mobile US Inc. (Nasdaq: TMUS) is laying off 121 employees in King County, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed Friday.

The WARN says the layoffs will begin Oct. 13. The cutbacks come two weeks after T-Mobile closed its $4.4 billion acquisition of UScellular assets.

"To put T-Mobile in the best position to continue delivering our customers best-in-class digital-first experiences, we are evolving our IT organization," a T-Mobile spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "As we continue to hire for hundreds of new roles, we have eliminated a small portion of positions to realign the focus and structure of some parts of the team."

The spokesperson added that the company will help affected employees as they transition. The company didn't clarify whether the layoffs affected employees outside King County.
