Oracle laying off workers in Seattle

Austin-based cloud giant Oracle Corp. (NYSE: ORCL) is laying off 161 workers in Seattle, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification.

The WARN document, filed Wednesday with the state of Washington, said the layoffs will begin Oct. 13.

Oracle hasn't yet responded to a request for comment around which roles may be impacted, nor how many Oracle employees remain in Seattle. The company is one of the largest tech employers in the Seattle area with about 3,900 workers.

Oracle makes products for cloud infrastructure and cloud applications, as well as hardware and software, for companies in defense, health care, hospitality and financial services, among others. Its clients include Uber and MGM Resorts, per its website.
