Challenger Katie Wilson surpasses fifty percent of the vote in Seattle mayoral race, widens lead over Bruce Harrell

Is Seattle on the verge of electing another new mayor?

If the increasingly complete results of the August Top Two election are any indication, the answer to that question could be “Yes” come November.

As of today’s count, challenger Katie Wilson has an absolute majority of the vote, while incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell has slid from 44.86% to 41.7% of the vote. It’s an ominous sign for Harrell’a prospects for a second term this autumn — but it’s not shocking.

NPI’s Civic Heartbeat polling has suggested Harrell was in trouble all year long. Three consecutive 2025 surveys — along with two 2024 ones — have found that voters are dissatisfied with Harrell’s job performance and hungry for bold progressive change
