Nelson, Foster likely to face off for Seattle City Council seat

Incumbent Seattle City Councilmembers Sara Nelson and Alexis Mercedes Rinck appear positioned, based on Tuesday night’s vote count, to move on to the general election to defend their citywide seats.

Nelson’s competition is likely to be Dionne Foster, the former head of a progressive nonprofit. Nelson had 39.1% of the vote Tuesday night and Foster had 53.7%.

Rinck, meanwhile, is likely to face Rachael Savage in the fall. Rinck’s lead Tuesday was sizable, with 75.2%, while Savage had 14.9% in a five-candidate field.

In District 2, encompassing South Seattle, Eddie Lin and Adonis Ducksworth lead the pack with 45.7% and 30.6%, respectively.
