Kallio, Schiefelbein likely to progress to general election for Sedro-Woolley School Board

Incumbent District 1 school board member Brent Schiefelbein and Jim Kallio will progress to the general election, after initial primary election results were released Tuesday night.

Kallio, who previously was on the school board for 20 years until 2017, has received 51.47% of the vote as of Tuesday night. Kallio said he was motivated to run again for the school board after the unclear departure of former Superintendent Miriam Mickelson in February, and what he described as divisiveness on the board.

He said Tuesday night that “the community was not happy” about some of the board’s actions, and that they stepped up to support him.

“I feel really fortunate and humbled to come back in after all these years and to get that much support from the community,” Kallio said.
