Primary election results: Backus and Trout lead mayor race; Lott and Stirgus lead council races

Early results for the Aug. 5 primary election are in for three Auburn races and more, according to King County Elections. The top two finishers will advance to the November general election.

In the race for mayor, incumbent Nancy Backus is leading with 58.65% of the vote with Auburn City Councilmember Yolanda Trout coming in second at 21.52%. Challenger Ronnie Morgan has 19.18% of the vote.

For Auburn City Council Position 4, Brian Lott is leading the race with 47.36% of the vote, followed by Erica Tomas at 36.09% and Yuval Fleming at 16.01%.

For Auburn City Council Position 6, incumbent Lisa Stirgus is leading the race with 48.10% of the vote, followed by Cobi Clark at 29.67% and James Jeyaraj at 21.5%.
