Girmay Zahilay, Claudia Balducci set to advance to general election for King County Executive

The contest for King County Executive in the forthcoming November 2025 general election delivers what we want in a democracy: a choice of the greater of goods.

King County Council Chair Girmay Zahilay topped a low turnout August Top Two election with 40.39% of the first vote count. Council colleague Claudia Balducci took 30.28%.

As the Balducci campaign was quick to point out, a pivotal thirty percent of the vote went to other candidates and is up for grabs in the general election.

As of Election Day, turnout was barely over eighteen percent.
