(139,616 posts)#### Years ago, driving from VT with daughters to NJ beach, and something similar happened; was able to find a place for dinner when bee 'herders' were able to 'catch' them. Got to beach late, but motel stayed open for us; quite an adenture.

(17,742 posts)Those bees won't bee dangerous, well - any bees could be dangerous if you walk up to them and disturb their hives, because they won't go far from the crash site. But further away from hives they are docile.
The reason they won't go far is that they won't abandon their queens, who would be in no shape to fly unless the colony was about to swarm anyway (they do that to increase their genetic pools).
Laying queens really can't fly. They are too laden down with maturing eggs and aren't light enough or in physical shape.
So the colonies will pretty much stay in the area. The beekeepers who come in to rescue them will know how to handle them - unless the police or fire company wants them killed. Some departments just want the mess cleaned up asap and don't give a hoot about the bees.
Truck is insured, so if they go the quick way out those bees will be history.
