Elected officials, Democratic leaders call on King County Assessor John Wilson to resign over renewed harassment

allegations

It’s time to step down and end your campaign.

That was the message delivered today to disgraced King County Assessor John Wilson, also known as John Arthur Wilson, by a number of elected officials and Democratic Party leaders responding to the news that Wilson’s former partner has again obtained a restraining order against him and accused him of stalking and harassment.

Wilson — a former journalist who worked for King County Executive Ron Sims and later for his predecessor Lloyd Hara — is a candidate for Executive this year, vying with more than a half dozen other individuals for a spot on the November ballot in the forthcoming August Top Two election. He serves in one of three countywide executive branch positions chosen by voters, with the others being Executive and Elections Director.

Wilson’s campaign has been haunted since the beginning of the year by reporting that documented a long-running abusive relationship with his intimate partner Lee Keller. Keller told The Seattle Times in January that she and Wilson had resolved their differences, but this morning PubliCola reported that Keller had again sought and obtained a restraining order against Wilson, dated on May 13th, and that it remains in place now, contrary to Wilson’s absurd claim denying it even exists.
