Tensions between Hidalgo and county commissioners have also mounted during meetings in the past. A vote on a flood control project during an August commissioners court meeting last year was also followed by calls for decorum. The discussion ended when Hidalgo told Garcia she was “done taking [his] disrespect.”
Earlier this year, commissioners declined to fund Hidalgo’s trade mission to Paris. She said she ended up using campaign funds to pay for the trip.
Hidalgo received the lowest net-approval rating based on job performance of any elected Harris County official included in a recent University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs survey — including all county commissioners, District Attorney Sean Teare, and County Attorney Christian Menefee.
Commissioner Briones issued a statement shortly after the exchange with Judge Hidalgo:
"I was disappointed to witness Judge Hidalgo's disruptive behavior at Commissioners Court today; it distracted from the serious issues before us. As colleagues, we may disagree, but fundamental respect and decorum are non-negotiable. The democratic process is built on civil debate, and as elected leaders we must hold ourselves to the highest standards. The people of Harris County deserve better."
Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, who had previously commented against the tax hike, also issued a statement on the exchange:
"It’s beyond frustrating to yet again witness Judge Hidalgo's disruptive behavior at Commissioners Court today. We must hold ourselves to the highest standards. It was particularly offensive to witness her trying to use children as props for her political agenda. The people of Harris County deserve better."

That's unfortunate, but it doesn't surprise me that she is not seeking re-election. She was very popular at first. I did see some mistakes in her hiring of the elections administrator a few years ago.
Our Democratic DA is not seeking re-election. He got into a controversy awhile back. But we've got a great guy in the works, who is respected by both parties.
Our newly elected mayor has never held an elected position. Ay dios! It's been wild. They are already lining up to challenge her in 2029.
County Judge is a tough position.
