Abilene ISD seeks voter approval for $10M funding boost in November election

ABILENE, Texas — Voters will get to decide in November if Abilene ISD can access more than $10 million in new funding each year.

The AISD Board of Trustees voted for a Voter-Approval Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) for the Nov. 4 election. Called Proposition A on the ballot, the local finance referendum will determine if the district will have access to $3.7 million in local funding and $6.3 million via state funding.

No matter what the decision is regarding Proposition A, voters will see a decrease in the local school tax rate and annual property tax payment on the average AISD property tax.

If the proposition passes, AISD taxpayers will see a $174.07 decrease and if it does not pass, the average yearly property tax bill will lessen by $208.67.
