Siegel (D) captures 60% of vote in win for Lehigh County executive

Democrat Josh Siegel, a state lawmaker who said he could do more to help people on the county level, sailed to election as Lehigh County executive on Tuesday, capturing 60.6% of the vote.

Siegel, 31, defeated Republican Roger MacLean, 73, a former Allentown police chief and city council member, with 56,611 versus MacLean’s 36,798, according to unofficial results posted by Lehigh County.

“It’s amazing. I’m humbled,” Siegel said Tuesday.

Siegel was a surprise entry in the race to replace incumbent Democrat Phil Armstrong, who is term-limited under the county’s Home Rule Charter.
