Election board prepares for events surrounding Nov. 4 municipal election

Indiana County’s Election Board — the three county commissioners — have approved the continued use of the existing official return board for the Nov. 4 voting.

Commissioner Sherene Hess moved to again name Chief Clerk Robin Maryai, Director of Voter Registration Debra Streams, Elections Coordinator Wilson Ragen and Human Resources Director Melissa Miller, while Commissioner Bonni S. Dunlap seconded that motion Wednesday morning.

Maryai, Streams, Ragen and Miller will convene at 9 a.m. on Nov. 7 in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room, on the second floor of the Indiana County Court House, to compute and canvass votes cast three days earlier.

Their work already is going on, however, as they await a repaired paper folder that will help process roughly 5,000 applications for absentee and mail-in ballots, as well as ballots expected from the printer in the next two weeks.
