Voter turnout low in Carroll County's Nov. 4 election

Only 25% of the 17,545 registered voters exercised their right to vote in the Nov. 4 nonpartisan general election.

The number of ballots counted Tuesday night, Nov. 4, by the Board of Elections in the county’s 23 precincts totaled 4,380, while mail ballots were only partially reported, according to Director of Elections Deloris Kean.

The board’s official canvass and certification of votes cast was scheduled for Thursday morning, when the board was to decide on possible automatic recounts for Malvern Council and Fox Township trustee.

Reflecting on Election Day, Kean said, “We successfully conducted another election, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our new office clerks (Lauren Shannon and Tiffany Parker), voting location managers, and precinct election officials.
