Kinston candidates face residency challenges as protests mount against election winners

Two additional protests were filed against Kinston candidates for the third protest this week.

On Monday, a protest was filed against Councilman-elect Les Lipford. On Wednesday, two protests were filed against Mayor-elect Kareem Moore. Both allege the candidates don't reside within city limits.

The Lenoir County Board of Elections addressed the protest in a meeting on Friday.

The Lenoir County Board of Elections has decided that a hearing will take place for one of two protests filed against Mayor-elect Kareem Moore, and the amended protest filed against Council-elect Les Lipford will go through.
