CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte has been ranked the fifth-best place to live in the country, according to a new list by U.S. News and World Report.

The report highlights Charlotte's strong economy, being the second-largest banking hub in the U.S., and its strategic location just hours from both mountains and beaches.

"We are not a well-kept secret, and being a great place to live and pursue work is our cornerstone," Michael Smith, of Charlotte Center City Partners, said. "We’ve got great infrastructure. We’ve got great talent, which brings jobs, which brings talent, and it’s just a positive cycle.”

The study praised the city's recreational offerings, including professional sports, museums, parks and breweries. It also noted Charlotte's geographic advantages.

Nothing about the arts.

Sigh. My home state used to be one of the big 'arts' states. Now, it is proof that there are no more arts in this country.

Unless it is 'profitable'.

From a time past..
