Federal funding frozen for NY child care programs over fraud concerns

Programs in New York that help parents pay for child care and provide cash aid to low-income workers are in limbo with the Republican Trump administration's move to freeze funding for those benefits in five Democratic-led states.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday, Jan. 6, that it was suspending $10 billion in annual funding for New York, California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota due to fraud concerns. It said it had notified governors of those states that federal money for three state-administered programs "is now restricted pending further review."

New York is expected to challenge the decision in court, as it has done with other Trump administration actions over the last year. New York has already teamed with Democratic-led states in at least 38 joint lawsuits, winning court orders in many cases to at least temporarily halt the actions they were fighting.

Seems like only democratic states........
