Democratic Rochester mayoral candidates in final push before primary election day

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Mayor Malik Evans, along with his Democratic challengers, Rochester City Councilmember Mary Lupien and businessman Shashi Sinha, campaigned across Rochester ahead of primary election day.

Outside the Monroe County Democratic Committee headquarters off of University Avenue, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans rallied supporters ahead of a parade toward North Clinton Ave, and last-minute outreach efforts.

The incumbent mayor is hoping to build upon his first term, touting progress in violence prevention and housing accessibility.

"I think the biggest thing that sets me apart from the candidates is that we've been able to have a collaborative effort, and I have worked collaboratively with every single level of government," said Evans. "That has delivered the largest investments in the city of Rochester that we have seen in its history."
