Albany election board deems Lukee Forbes's petition for common council invalid

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Albany County Board of Elections has disqualified petitions from five Democratic candidates seeking positions on the city's Common Council on the democratic ticket. Among those affected is Lukee Forbes, who had planned to run for Albany's Third Ward. Forbes, a former inmate, is known for his advocacy in criminal justice reform.

The Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner explained that Forbes's petition was invalidated due to duplicate signatures. This means that constituents who signed Forbes's petition had already signed another candidate's petition for the same ward before signing his.
