Justin Brannan (D - NY City Council, 43rd District) wins his re-election race!

His opponent was a MAGAt DB who posted "Make Bay Ridge White Again" in his campaign against Brannan.

MAGAt held a slight edge on Election Day, and the counting of absentee ballots could be done only after 5pm yesterday 11/15.

Brannan really is a good guy, whose motto on the sign outside his office is "Love All Serve All". He does community events with some of the less-bad local R pols, like Nicole Malliotakis, she of the recent verbal spew against her by TFG when she voted for the infrastructure bill.

Congrats Justin on your re-election. Maybe the MAGAt can get a job walking Sliwa's cat or something.

I get it's a more conservative council district but it really hits home the fact that Republicans can still compete even when they're crazy and open about their racism. It's why people who are cheering on the crazies winning primaries in like Pennsylvania, Ohio and other states for the senate need to be careful because it's clear we're in a new political world where these guys are viable.

If this environment existed in 2012, we would have likely lost senate seats in Indiana and Missouri, two seats we liked won solely because the Republicans put up extreme candidates.
