Mukherji endorses Jabbour in Hoboken runoff

State Sen. Raj Mukherji (D-Jersey City) on Wednesday endorsed Hoboken Councilwoman Emily Jabbour in the city’s mayoral runoff election.

Jabbour, who finished first in the general election with 27%, will face Councilman Michael Russo, who finished with about 24%, in the Dec. 2 runoff. Mukherji’s 32nd legislative district includes Hoboken and parts of Jersey City.

Mukherji said Jabbour is a strong leader who can work with state officials to push forward important infrastructure projects.

“I know how important it is to have strong leaders advocating for Hoboken residents – Emily is a tireless advocate for her city on a macro level with projects such as Union Dry Dock, Hoboken Connect, and resiliency infrastructure; and in terms of the micro level with constituent services, she is always the one who follows through to make sure that these matters are addressed and resolved,” Mukherji said in the endorsement. “Through all of this hard work, Councilwoman Jabbour has never lost her sense of idealism and integrity; she’s got what it takes to move Hoboken forward.”
