How to Vote in Hudson County's December Runoff Elections
The Hoboken and Jersey City mayoral and city council candidate races are set to advance to runoff elections that will be held on December 2nd. Voters who were not registered to vote in the original election on November 4th may still register to vote in the runoff until Wednesday, November 12th. The races for Hoboken mayor and Council-at-Large are advancing to runoffs since no candidate reached sufficient majorities on Election Day. Jersey City is also headed for runoffs in its mayoral and city council races.
The Hoboken Girl previously reported the results of Novembers municipal elections, including Election Day vote totals for each of the candidates. Emily Jabbour and Mike Russo will compete in the runoff election for Mayor of Hoboken. Caitlin Layson, Joe Quintero, Steve Firestone, Peter Keeling, Nicole Magaña, and Elizabeth Urtecho will advance to the runoff to elect three representatives to Council-at-Large seats. City Council candidate responses to HGs candidate Q+A can be found here. As of November 5th at 6AM, polling results showed Emily Jabbour narrowly leading by just 478 votes with Russo closely behind.
In Jersey City, James Solomon and Jim McGreevey will face off in a runoff mayoral election. As of 6AM on November 5th, James Solomon captured the highest number of votes on election night, with Jim McGreevey only 2,158 votes behind. Rolando Lavarro, Michael Griffin, Mamta Singh, Tina Nalls, Meredith Burns, and Daniel Rivera will also advance to a runoff election for Council at Large.
