Hoboken Mayor Runoff Election: What You Need to Know

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Hoboken residents will return to the polls on Tuesday, Dec. 2, for a runoff election that will decide the city’s next mayor and fill three at-large City Council seats. The mayoral runoff will feature Councilwoman Emily Jabbour and Councilman Michael Russo, who advanced after neither candidate received a majority of votes in the Nov. 4 General Election.

Voters will also be able to select up to three of the following candidates to serve on the Hoboken City Council: Nicole Magana, Peter Keeling, Elizabeth “Liz” Urztecho, Joe Quintero, Caitlin Layson, Steve Firestone.

Voter registration remains open through Wednesday, Nov. 12, for any residents who have not yet signed up to vote. The Hoboken City Clerk’s Office, located at 94 Washington Street, will extend its hours until 9 p.m. on Nov. 12 to accept in-person voter registration applications. Residents may also register online at voter.svrs.nj.gov/register same date. Voter registration applications are available online in both English and Spanish.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Residents can vote at their assigned polling locations, which can be found at voter.svrs.nj.gov/polling-place-search
