Appeals court denies Frank White's bid to halt Jackson County recall election

JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. — A Missouri appeals court has denied an effort by Jackson County Executive Frank White to stop Tuesday’s recall election.

The Court of Appeals ruled that absentee voting has already been underway for weeks and said the election will proceed as scheduled on Sept. 30.

Chuck Hatfield, an election and political law attorney with the Stinson Law Firm, said the ruling was not surprising.

“When you get in these election cases, you know, everything’s really important and everything happens very quickly. And so the lawyers tend to get creative. I’ve done it too,” Hatfield said.
