Jackson City Council will have new faces after apparent upset

Ashby Foote looks to have lost his Ward 1 seat on the Jackson City Council to challenger Grace Greene. While the race was close between Foote, Greene and Democrat Jasmine Barnes, Greene is the apparent winner.

In Ward 2, Democrat Tina Clay held a substantial lead over independent candidate Bethany Williams-Sherif, to hold onto her seat on the Jackson City Council.

Longtime Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes, a Democrat, has served six terms representing Ward 3. He first joined the council in 1989. Stokes defeated independent candidate Marques Jackson in the general election.

Democrat Vernon Hartley kept his Ward 5 seat on the city council by defeating independent candidate Ray McCants.
