https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/12/18/its-everything-everyone-fears-first-minnesota-firefighter-dies-from-covid-19/Lange, who had been with the department for 23 years, passed away at age 55 on Dec. 11 from complications due to COVID-19. His death, ruled a line of duty death, marks the first for a firefighter in the state since the pandemics onset. He left behind a wife and two children.
Today, all of Minnesotas 20,000 firefighters are grieving his loss and realizing it could have been any one of us any day, said Jay Wood of the Minnesota Fire Service Foundation. All of us think about that, and thats the risk of the job every day.
My hometown. Both he and his wife came down with COVID the first week of December. She pulled through, he didn't. He went from a healthy man to dead in 2 weeks. Given how conservative my hometown is, I'm fairly certain he wasn't vaccinated either.

(6,407 posts)No one wanted to admit he died of COVID, even his own obituary. Dying of COVID in Trumpland is like dying of AIDS in the early 80's.

(6,407 posts)This death was probably preventable with a vaccine. Ironic that this guy and his "faith" community probably thought they didn't need the science and politicized an illness and a vaccine against a deadly disease, yet his career was based on the science of fire fighting, and he most certainly would not have gone into a burning building without his 02 and a suit. He's no hero.

(1,641 posts)The EMT's certainly have ample opportunity to observe the anguish of COVID. To have that first hand knowledge and disregard the vaccine is mind boggling.

Their communities need them.
