Brockton City Council race narrowed to 1 vote as 5th candidate asks for recount

As Brockton preps for several election recounts, updated unofficial results failed to change any outcomes.

The new totals include hand-counted and provisional ballots, said Elections Director Cynthia Hogan. Voters who show up at the polls to find they aren't on the voter registration list may cast provisional ballots. They are set aside and only counted if election officials are able to confirm, after the polls close, that the person really was registered.

In the five closest races, numbers shared by the Brockton Elections Commission on Nov. 13 were all within seven votes of the totals announced on Election Night, according to an Enterprise comparison of the Nov. 4 and Nov. 13 figures.
