Michelle Wu (D) leads Josh Kraft (R), other challengers for Boston mayor in early poll

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is looking strong heading into the 2025 election season, a poll from Saint Anselm College Survey Center concluded Tuesday.

Wu, who is serving her first term, announced her re-election campaign April 5. Her best known challenger is Josh Kraft, son of New England Patriot’s owner Robert Kraft, who launched his bid for mayor on Feb. 4.

However, the poll found that Wu holds a strong early lead on the ballot, with 53% of respondents saying they would vote for her over 21% who say they would vote for Kraft.

“Boston’s young, diverse, and educated electorate appears satisfied with Wu’s leadership,” said Neil Levesque, executive director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, in a written statement. “Voter disaffection is aimed at Washington, not City Hall, giving Wu a solid foundation as the race begins.”
