WORCESTER For the second time in less than two years, former President Bill Clinton will visit Worcester on behalf of a Massachusetts Democrat running for statewide office.
Sources said Thursday night the 42nd president will campaign for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Martha M. Coakley at an afternoon event Oct. 16. The site has not been determined, but campaign officials are looking at area colleges, both public and private.
"Everyone in Worcester loves Bill Clinton," said Candy Mero-Carlson, chairwoman of the Democratic City Committee. "He's coming in obviously for our candidates to rally the troops we just don't have all the final details yet."
Mr. Clinton spoke to more than 900 Democrats in June 2013 at WPI. He visited the city on behalf of U.S. Sen. Edward J. Markey who was running against Republican Gabriel Gomez in a special election.
