Topeka voters meet candidates on the November 4th election ballots

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Topeka voters got a chance to chat with the candidates on the upcoming election ballot, Monday night.

The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library hosted the candidate meet and greet for Topeka mayor and city council districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.

Organizers say it’s designed to give voters the opportunity to ask questions and talk directly to the candidates about the issues most important to them ahead of the November 4th election.

“I think it’s important for the next generation to get educated on what’s happening in their local governments because anything that happens on a larger scale on the federal level all starts on the local level. This is where most public servants and politicians get their start, so it is important to see what’s up and coming,” says Topeka voter, Nyalia Lui.
