2 NW Iowa communities did not meet the filing requirements for school and city elections

GALVA, Iowa (KTIV) - Iowa’s filing deadline for this fall’s city and school board elections has passed. But, for a few communities, the candidates who gathered enough signatures will not be on the ballot.

The Iowa Secretary of State’s Office says filing officers in seven counties across the state failed to submit candidates’ paperwork to their county auditors by the deadline, which was noon on Friday, Sept. 19.

Among the races affected are two Northwest Iowa communities, Galva in Ida County and Jolley in Calhoun County.

The Secretary of State’s office says the affected candidates will now have to undergo write-in campaigns and their names will not appear on the ballots.
