Independent challenger ousts appointed GOP auditor in Madison County special election
MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — The results are in for a special election in Madison County to determine the next county auditor.
Two candidates were vying for the seat once held by Teri Kaczinski, who resigned earlier this summer.
Michele Brant, an independent and former clerk for the board of supervisors, was running against current temporary Auditor Matthew Schwarz (R).....
In May, Kaczinski (R) resigned as she was being investigated for entering into a contract with a consulting firm without board approval.
