ACLU of Georgia to Speak at the Election Procedures Study Committee Hearing in Newton County

WHAT:

A Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures hearing in Covington, Newton County on Thursday, October 2. The committee is studying and evaluating current election policies and providing advice for new election laws ahead of the 2026 Legislative Session.

The committee is holding a series of hearings statewide through October 17. The time and location is tentatively set for one remaining hearing. The committee will hear from invited guests and then take public comment. Anyone can sign up to comment. The topics of each meeting are unknown and have not been made available in advance. The ACLU of Georgia will speak about voter access challenges for area residents and how to prevent false and inaccurate information about elections from spreading.

WHEN:

10 a.m., Thursday, October 2
The meeting is expected to last several hours, if not longer. Public comment has been occurring at the end of the meetings.
